MAREEBA DIMBULAH PIPELINE SCHEME

Project: 22SW00152 – North Walsh Pipelines Partial Replacement || Location: Mareeba, Queensland || Client: Sunwater || Role: Principal Contractor || Contract Value - $460,733.31. || Completion Date: June 2023.

Partial replacement of HTP pipeline within the Mareeba Dimbulah Water Supply Scheme. Removal of existing RC pipeline, strengthening subgrades and replacing with HDPE butt welded pipe. Establishing cement stabilised creek crossings to protect the new pipeline.

Challenge 1: Water ingress into the work area through damaged existing pipes

Uncontrolled water ingress through damaged pipes can flood the work area, hindering progress and jeopardising safety.

Solutions

Establishing suitable pumping solutions to ensure all excavations remained relatively dry.
Challenge 2: Time constraints due to full shut downs of the scheme

Full shutdowns impose tight time constraints, requiring efficient resource management to meet critical deadlines.

Solutions

This required the increase of physical resources to ensure that shut downs were kept to a minimum.
Challenge 3: Working in the vicinity of underground Ergon Energy assets

Working near underground Ergon Energy assets increases the risk of service disruption or damage if not properly managed.

Solutions

Service locations via vacuum truck were undertaken to ensure no clashes with third party services.
